Brand History: Lyle and Scott

Lyle and Scott the British men's knitwear brand was founded in 1874 in Scotland by William Lyle and Walter Scott, with archives dating back 125 years including influences and designs from none other than Christian Dior and Michael Kors. Originally known for its golfing knitwear, the brand soon had a more fashionable crowd following it, wearing the classic knitwear in the casual styles of the 80s.

Lyle and Scott clothing came back to life and appealed to many fashion conscious males in 2003, when they launched their heritage collection; a modern, independent and resolutely British brand whose iconic Eagle acts as a symbol for both quality and exclusivity.

The Lyle and Scott Heritage collection, an addition we are proud to add to the scotts brand authority, was launched in 2007 with a more discreet tonal red eagle logo.
